Polyus’ Head of ESG and SRI Communications, Alex Caicics, recently spoke about the importance of ESG as part of investor relations at a session on Sustainable Business Development during the Baltic Weekend, a renowned annual conference on public relations in St. Petersburg.
He was joined by colleagues from P&G, Schneider Electric, LafargeHolcim and Coca-Cola HBC Russia.
During his presentation, Alex described Polyus’ experience of introducing a dedicated ESG communications function within the Company, which currently acts as not only a connective link between Polyus and the ESG investor community, but also as a contributor to the Company’s sustainability strategy.
Alex also spoke about the increasing role of ESG in investors’ decision-making processes, which reflects the changing priorities of society.
He stressed that being proactive was a prerequisite in efficiently delivering a company’s ESG messaging to target audiences:ESG is now about much more than just reputation. It’s about money, and in a very concrete way: the money of investors, consumers, business partners. Corporations must learn how to be green, socially responsible and ethical — if they haven’t learned it yet.
