In 2018, Polyus ran a number of social projects in the Bodaibo District, Irkutsk Region, where the Company has several key assets. Polyus Verninskoye, Polyus’ largest asset in this region, invested RUB 23 m in social projects including the refurbishment of Bodaibo’s cultural and recreation centre.
Polyus also funded the installation of outdoor seating and a running track at the Trud Stadium and, in line with tradition, helped organize the annual Day of Knowledge (1 September) celebrations for schoolchildren.
Additionally, the Company purchased a VME video endoscope for the local hospital and an ambulance which will be delivered to the Kropotkin settlement in August 2019.
Polyus Verninskoye also supports children from low-income families, providing them with clothes, school supplies, and toys. The Company donated warm winter clothing worth RUB 700,000 to approximately 80 children as a present for the New Year, and also purchased furniture for a kindergarten in Bodaibo.
Igor Tsukurov, Managing Director of Polyus Verninskoye, commented:
As part of our commitment to supporting growth in local communities, we invest in sporting facilities, education and creative projects. We want children from everywhere, including the smallest towns, to have access to a wider range of educational opportunities which will enable them to unlock their potential.
