Key achievements in 2019
  • Switching to hydropower: Polyus launched the Razdolinskaya –Taiga power grid connecting Olimpiada and Blagodatnoye to sources of hydropower. This reduced energy consumption from non-renewable energy sources (coal and oil) produced at own thermal power stations and diesel power plants. The move will also reduce the volume of GHG emissions into the atmosphere and the consumption of water resources which were used to cool turbines at the thermal power plants.
  • Waste management campaign: Implementing the Separate & Recycle campaign
  • Biodiversity studies in the Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk Regions; over 749 thousand fish released into local river systems
  • Launching domestic and effluent water treatment facilities at Krasnoyarsk Business Unit
  • Introducing environmental protection training courses for employees
  • Implementation of the Reclamation and Mine Closure Standard and the Cyanide Management Standard
