The Company confirmed its position as a leader in sustainable development by taking third place in the ESG rating for climate impact management out of 85 companies from different sectors of the economy. The survey used available data from the mining, metallurgy, chemical, oil and gas and energy industries.
The expert rating is based on a comprehensive analysis of reporting provided by participating companies. This covers achievements in climate impact management and strategic long-term plans in this area. The rating considered several key criteria, including the following:
- Energy use
- Greenhouse gas emissions
- Share of renewable energy sources
- Adaptation to climate change
Polyus owes its top position in the ESG rating to a well-defined climate strategy designed to reduce specific emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2) and to measures taken at production facilities to improve the efficiency of heat and energy use.
The Company focuses on:
- Reducing greenhouse gas emissions through better energy efficiency in production;
- Using renewable energy sources. Currently, 100% of all electric power consumed is supplied from renewable sources;
- Introducing innovations in energy use management;
- Meeting goals: zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
The Company’s position in the top 3 of the RAEX ESG rating is proof that its chosen strategy is both effective and successful. This is further reinforced by ratings from other independent agencies who consistently rank Polyus at the top, which demonstrates the Company’s serious attitude toward sustainable development and the coherent implementation of related initiatives.
