Polyus’ initiatives presented as part of a UN report on Russia’s sustainable development

Six of Polyus’s significant initiatives were included in the Report «The Russian Federation and sustainable development: an overview of the achievements and initiatives delivered by the regions, business and the civil sector in 2020-2025». This report, prepared with the assistance of the United Nations and Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), was presented as part of the International Climate Agenda session at the recent St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

This paper is an authoritative overview of the progress that Russia has made in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) over the past five years, focusing on the practical contribution of government bodies, businesses and non-profits in the development of specific regions. In the report, experts highlighted projects that visibly demonstrate the contribution that Russian companies make to delivering the sustainable development goals.

Polyus’ initiatives are implemented in several of its regions of operations, such as Krasnoyarsk Territory, Khabarovsk Territory, Irkutsk and Magadan Regions and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and are aimed at delivering a number of SDGs. For instance, Quality Education (SDG 4) is represented by programs that support educational institutions, the development of the educational infrastructure and professional training programs. In Affordable and Clean Energy (SGD 7), Polyus is actively working to ensure the transition of its assets to renewable energy sources and has fully covered its production needs through electricity obtained from renewable sources since 2021. In addition, the report recognizes Polyus’ role in strengthening partnerships to deliver sustainable development goals (SDG 17) through cooperation with the professional community, research institutes and the public sector in implementing social and environmental projects.

The inclusion of Polyus’ initiatives in this Report is a significant recognition of the Company’s contribution to delivering sustainable development goals through meaningful ESG solutions.
