Polyus released around 50,000 young sturgeon into the Yenisei River in the Krasnoyarsk region

Polyus employees released 50,678 young sturgeon into the Yenisei River in the Krasnoyarsk region this summer. The company plays an active role in environmental development initiatives to reproduce commercially important fish and replenish the biodiversity within the region.

A dedicated vehicle carrying the young fish traveled over 300 km from Primorsky to Kononovo village, where the young sturgeon, aged approximately 5-6 months old, weighing 2 grams and measuring 6-7 cm, were released into the Yenisei River.

Polyus chose to release sturgeon for good reason: this species of fish has been listed in the Red Book since 2020, is protected by the state and has a high yield to fishery ratio.

Since 2012, Polyus has released 533,160 young fish into the water basin of Krasnoyarsk region.
