This summer, the first high school students to graduate from our Polyus-Class career guidance project entered universities to study mining-related courses. To provide these future university students with even more motivation, the company organized a tour of its largest production asset — Olimpiada mine in Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The Polyus Class graduates were shown the entire production chain — from the Vostochny pit (and its drill and blast operations) to smelting operations at the process plant. The students were able to see how gold bullion is produced and even hold it in their hands.

&";This tour was an incredible opportunity to see the deepest mining pit in Russia! And I was equally impressed by the gold process plant. We were also able to talk to the heads of various company divisions and other business units. We learned so much, and I was so inspired by their experience that I already know what I want to achieve!&"; said Efim Lazarenko, one of the students.

The Polyus Class graduates also visited the maintenance shop for self-propelled equipment and even tried their hand as mine truck drivers in a special simulator in the training department.

In addition, the future professionals met Pavel Vorsin, the Managing Director of Polyus Krasnoyarsk. The students shared their impressions of the tour with him and asked questions about the production process. Pavel told them about his professional and career development and stressed the importance of having a proactive approach to life and constantly learning new skills. At the end of the meeting with the students, he congratulated them on their successful admission to universities.

&";I was amazed by the sheer scale of the equipment, machines and the entire mine. We also saw a blast in the pit — it was incredible, and the memory will stay with me for a long time. All the employees we met were top-class specialists, which convinced me even more that I’ve chosen the right profession. I hope that one day I’ll become part of Polyus,&"; said Ekaterina Zavyalova, a student taking part in the project.

These high school graduates will soon start a new and fascinating chapter in their studies as university students.

This September, Polyus Class will begin the new enrollment of high school students in Krasnoyarsk Territory and Irkutsk region.
