Polyus signed a number of environmental agreements at the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). The first partnership, approved by Polyus’ CEO Alexey Vostokov and the Irkutsk Region governor Igor Kobzev, is aimed at reforestation of the Angara region. To date, Polyus has planted around 7.5 million pine trees in the region. Plans for 2026–2028 include planting trees and caring for seedlings across more than 2,500 hectares, which is expected to further reinforce environmental cooperation between business and the regional authorities.
Such initiatives are a natural extension of Polyus’ portfolio of environmental protection projects. The second agreement signed at the SPIEF establishes a biodiversity conservation partnership between SIBUR and Polyus. Its aim is to streamline environmental practices and increase the role of business in conservation of natural capital. The agreement encompasses sharing best practices in environmental impact management, implementation of joint educational and awareness-raising initiatives, as well as exploring opportunities to apply this knowledge for monitoring the condition of ecosystems and rare species of flora and fauna.

In 2025, Polyus released a Biodiversity Conservation Report , which explicitly explained the corporate practices in terms of information disclosure in line with global standards including GRI and TNFD. Currently, Polyus implements a complex biodiversity conservation program across all regions of operation. Specifically, it supports specially protected natural areas, carries out reforestation, participates in restoring aquatic biological resources and conducts research and preservation projects on focused on rare animals and plants.
The Company’s long-standing partnership with the Vitim Natural Reserve in the Bodaibo District, Irkutsk Region, is an example of such work. Polyus supports environmental protection, monitoring by research teams and environmental education, which includes tracking and recording of rare animals with camera traps, environmental protection projects, and educational initiatives for locals.
The new agreement allows the two large Russian companies to share experience and jointly expand the potential for developing and implementing efficient solutions in biodiversity conservation. This partnership will also help promote best practices in ecosystem conservation among businesses and the professional community.
