Polyus was included in RAEX 2025 ESG ranking related to climate change management. The study reviewed practices of 145 companies in Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia. Polyus ranked third among the industrial companies, confirming its high level of climate risk management and information disclosure.
The study methodology is based on a complex assessment including both quantitative indicators and quality analysis of corporate practices. Specifically, RAEX experts considered the level and dynamics of energy consumption and energy efficiency, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and measures aimed at their reduction, renewable energy consumption, availability of climate change adaptation and risk management tools. The assessment took into account not only the existence of strategies and policies, but also the extent to which they are implemented in practice, as well as the quality of disclosures in non-financial reporting.
As a result, the companies were grouped into three categories based on the maturity of their initiatives: high (66.6–100%), medium (33.3–66.6%) and low (0–33.3%). Analysts noticed a remarkable progress in the corporate sector over the past year. The percentage of companies with high climate risk management level has more than tripled, rising from 3% to 10%. This shows the accelerated rollout of ESG approaches and more intense focus on decarbonization. The industry specifics have also changed: in the current ranking, Mining and Metals, the traditional leader, is outperformed by Finance and Energy. A number of companies in the mining sector, including Polyus, are staying strong and keep demonstrating a high level of maturity in their climate practices. Guided by Russian recommendations and international disclosure standards, the Company is introducing approaches to risk management, executing projects to reduce GHG emissions and scaling up the use of modern process solutions. The survey proves that the climate is an important part of Polyus’ strategy and one of the key factors in long-term business sustainability.
