An advanced new lighting equipment has been installed along one of the runways at the Severo-Yeniseysk airport. The airport is now able to safely manage takeoffs and landings at all hours of the day and night, which will be especially important for the air medical services.
Konstantin Dimitrov, Transportation Minister, commented that the new equipment for the Severo-Yeniseysk airport represents the importance of both state and private business partnerships for local facilities. Polyus financed the design process, as well as the purchase and delivery of the new equipment. Regional Airports of Krasnoyarsk, the state-owned company that oversees the facility, carried out an extensive review and assembled the system. The lighting equipment became operational on March 1st 2021.
Yulia Logacheva, General Director of the state company, commented:“We conducted a thorough review process of the radio and electronic ground support facilities, aeronautical telecommunication and runway lighting. The results indicated a real need to upgrade these, so we are grateful for the equipment installed.”
Polyus believes the new lightening system should improve safety and enable the airport to increase its number of flights.
Pavel Vorsin, Managing Director of Polyus Krasnoyarsk, said:“The airport offers chartered flights to customers, a service that is used by our employees, amongst others. This new equipment will enhance the safety levels for existing flights and allows the airport to provide additional flights at night.”
With the new lighting equipment, the Severo-Yeniseysk airport now complies with all federal aviation safety standards and aircrafts now able to land and take off on a 24-hour basis.
