In February, Polyus’ assets in the Irkutsk Region — Verninskoye and Alluvials (Lenzoloto) were certified under three ISO qualifications.
Receiving the new ISO certifications was, as always, the result of large-scale teamwork, supported by the Board of Directors, and are testament to the Company’s commitment to best practices in sustainability. These latest certifications mean that the managing company, all of its operating assets, and its servicing companies, have received occupational safety and environment certificates (ISO 45001 and ISO 14001).
Polyus intends to continue improving further, with annual audits of compliance with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards. Following Verninskoye, other business units are also on track to obtaining ISO 50001 energy management system certificates.
Verninskoye was the first unit within the Polyus Group to obtain the ISO 50001 certification (setting forth the requirements for installation, introduction and improvement of energy management system during the life cycle of the processing equipment).
Alluvials were certified under ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety management system) and 14001 (environmental management system).
CEO of Polyus Pavel Grachev, TUV AUSTRIA (certifying company) Vice President Rob Bekkers and the CEO of TUV AUSTRIA Standards & Compliance (Russia and CIS) Dmitry Yartsev all took part in the awards ceremony.
In November 2018, Polyus became the first Russian mining company to be certified under 45001 (occupational health and safety management system) and ISO 14001 (environmental management system) standards.
These latest qualifications demonstrate our commitment to maintaining best global practices in sustainability and compliance with both ISO and ICMM principles, and result from our extensive and longstanding efforts in this area.
