CDP: Polyus improves score in Water Security, named among “frontrunners” in biodiversity disclosure

In the Water Security category, Polyus received a score of D, improving its performance from F in 2018.

In addition to the CDP rating for Climate Change, Polyus also responded to the CDP surveys for Water Security and Forests in 2019.

«Полюс» оказался единственной горнодобывающей компанией из числа 25 крупнейших в мире по рыночной капитализации и одной из совсем малого количества российских компаний, ответивших на вопросы анкеты рейтинга Forest.

In a blog post on CDP’s official website, the organization’s Director of Forests Morgan Gillespy named Polyus as one of ten “frontrunners on disclosure.” In particular, Gillespy commended Polyus’ efforts to protect biodiversity in its areas of operation, with our monitoring activities to assess the impact of mining operations in the Bodaibo region in cooperation with the Vitim nature reserve.

Daria Grigoreva, Head of Sustainable Development at Polyus, commented:

“In responding to the rating questionnaires, Polyus is proud to be taking an important step towards increasing transparency and acting as a leader in this important issue. In addition, we are pleased to note that we received one of the highest scores among Russian companies in the Water Security category.”

The CDP is internationally considered to be among the most important sustainability ratings for investors. Companies are ranked in the fields of climate change and protection of water and forests. Polyus’ results to the 2019 CDP survey are available to view here.
