The theme for this year’s Day, as set by the International Labour Organization, is «Revolutionizing Health and Safety: The Role of AI and Digitalization at Work».
Polyus has already given substance to this vision. Machine learning algorithms help analyze data streams and give warnings about risks well in advance. Wearable sensors monitor fatigue, overheating or exposure to hazard factors and advise on when to take a break. Drones and robot assistants take over in high-risk zones. Workers can train on how to deal with challenging situations using virtual trainers, without the risk of compromising their health.
Technologies improve teamwork, help in decision-making and reduce the impact of human factors. However, the system stays human-centered.
«Technologies can predict risks, but only people can prevent them. At Polyus, we build safety around two cornerstones: state-of-the-art AI solutions and a culture where everyone is responsible. Both parts make it work», commented Alexander Kruchinin, Vice President for Health Safety and Environment.
A safe environment is not just a set of rules and tools. It is culture that we build together. Every day.
