Fresh air at Verninskoye

Fresh air at Verninskoye

Polyus Verninskoye is currently rolling out its Fresh Air project, which is aimed at helping to maintain the health of those working at the Verninskoye Mine.

The project team has improved the air circulation of the compressed air system, which is connected to a filtration unit underneath the ore bin, and has upgraded the crusher suction system. In addition, new local exhaust ventilation hoods were installed, and the automated inlet ventilation system has been re-calibrated.

The newly introduced initiatives have considerably reduced dust levels in the production facilities.

Igor Tsukurov, Managing Director of Polyus Verninskoye, commented:

“ ’Fresh Air’ is one of several projects designed to foster good health and wellbeing in all of our employees. The Company recently participated in a Health and Safety contest during the 4th All-Russian Week of Occupational Health, for which we were nominated for awards, and received certification for our Innovation Projects. Thanks to our health and safety initiatives, we have had no lost-time occupational injuries for over 1,000 days. We will keep working to further enhance the safety levels of our operations in 2020.”

In 2019, Polyus Verninskoye was recognized as the leading enterprise in terms of occupational health and safety. The Company achieved first place in the all-Russia contest, “Russian Business Leaders: Trends, Responsibility and Sustainability”. The awards were organized by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).
